Dear families,                                                               January 17, 2008

I hope your children enjoyed the snow day we had on Monday. Unfortunately the snow day and the teacher workshop day on Friday left us with just three days together this week. The children all worked really hard this week and we were still able to accomplish a lot. Their teamwork and cooperation in the classroom has been wonderful to see. We had several new activities at centers this week as we celebrated our first two Kindergarten Super Stars Abigail (AM) and Aiden (PM).

Here are some things to ask your child about this week:

Super Star book - illustrated one page and wrote a sentence about the Super Star

Estimating jar - what did we count? Was your guess close?

Completed the handwriting page for letter Kk

Tried our new Marbleworks sets from Discovery Toys

Specials next week:

1/21  Monday - NO SCHOOL

1/22  Tuesday - day 2 - guidance (Second Step program with Mrs. Joyce)

1/23  Wednesday - day 3 - PE **remember sneakers**

1/24  Thursday - day 4 - music

1/25  Friday - day 5 - art

--------------------------------PLEASE NOTE------------------------------------

I have sent home book orders from Scholastic for both January and February. If you choose to order, please return order forms and checks payable to Scholastic by next Friday January 25th. Thanks!

I have sent home a second copy of the emergency dismissal form to those of you that I did not have in the classroom. Also, the office needs to know the name of my "calling parent". I have a volunteer for the AM session but I am still looking for someone to volunteer for the PM session. Please let me know if you are interested.

A letter was sent home earlier this week about Central School's 100th day celebration and food drive. Each classroom has a goal of collecting 100 of a particular item to donate to the local food pantry. Kindergarten will be collecting bars of soap. We will be keeping track of how many bars of soap we collect with a growing thermometer. If you would like to help us reach our goal please just send in your donation with your child beginning next week. Thank you in advance for all of your help and generosity!
