AT THE APRIL 24th SCHOOL BOARD MEETING SUPERINTENDENT, DR. MARY NASH, MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE FOLLOWING REPORT:
Dr. Nash reported that the Central Elementary School Principal Screening Committee consisted of representatives of the Board, the school’s PTO, the QEA, and the administrative team. The members of the committee were: Ellen Breed and Fred Wildnauer (shared a position to represent the Board of Directors); Kathy Adams and Corinna Melino (represented CES’ PTO); Pam Mulcahey and Rebecca Woodman (represented the QEA); and Principal Jerry Burnell (represented the administrative team). Dr. Nash, as Superintendent, chaired this committee. Dr. Nash reported that the screening committee was charged with recommending a suitable candidate(s) to fill the permanent position of Principal of Central Elementary School. Under state law, there is a three step process to hire a Principal.
First, it is the Superintendent’s responsibility to recommend to the Board a candidate for their consideration.
Secondly, the Board is charged with appointing a candidate to the position of Principal
And third, the Superintendent is charged with deploying appointed candidates.
The CES principal’s position was posted on School Spring and the committee conducted the interviews. The committee recommended Nina D’Aran as the candidate that was the “best fit” for the position of permanent Principal of CES at this time. Dr. Nash said “I am, therefore, recommending Nina D’Aran for the position of principal of CES. Thank you to all of the screening committee members for your hard work throughout this process.”
The school board approved Dr. Nash’s recommendation unanimously.
