English Department

Marshwood High School’s English Department supports and challenges students to be critical readers, writers, and thinkers. And through the reading, discussion, and analysis of literature, the department encourages students to be responsible, socially aware citizens.

All students must earn four credits of English to meet graduation requirements. This includes the successful completion of the prescribed full- academic-year courses for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. In the senior year, students elect courses from full year and semester offerings, depending upon their levels of achievement and abilities or deficiencies. Electives are also available to sophomores and juniors. The department offers 12 semester-long electives and two AP courses.
