Need Based Financial Aid

Need-based financial aid is available after both parent and student resources have been used.

70% of need-based aid is federal,  made available through grants, loans, and work-study programs.

Of this 70%:

60% is loans

40% is grants

The remaining 30% of need-based aid breaks down as follows:

20% is college aid: scholarships, grants and loans

10% is state and/or local grants and loans

Less than 5% of all money available for need-based aid is 'outside scholarship' money - that is, not received through any of the above-mentioned paths.
